INCREASING DEMAND OF STEEL LOCKERS AND WARDROBES FOR WORKERS
Enforcement of Employees’ Minimum Standards of Housing, Accommadations and Amenities Act 1990 (ACT 446)
In year 2020, ACT 446 was come to effect which requires employer to provide minimum standard of accommodation (hostel or house) and amenities for workers or employees and their dependents, requires employers to allocate land for cultivation and grazing in a place of employment, to provide health, hospital, medical and social amenities. This act have affect a lot of industries in Malaysia, especially construction and manufacturing industries, which takes up most number of workers, no matter local of foreign workers. The purpose of the act is to improve the quality of living and working environment of employees and workers, where a lot of problems due to dirty, inhumane, unsafe, overcrowded living condition. 1. A single bed measuring not less than 1.7 square metres. If a double-decker bed is provided, the space between two beds shall not be less than 0.7 metres.
2. A mattress at least four inches thick, a pillow and a blanket
3. A locked cupboard (measuring a minimum 0.35 metres long, 0.35 metres wide, 0.9 metres high) for the safe custody of the employee’s valuables including passport which may be accessible by the employee at any time.
Following the implementation of this law, a lot of employers in Malaysia, especially factories, which account for most workers in Malaysia, are ordering a lot of lockers and wardrobe for their workers.
This Act was boosting the demand of steel lockers, steel wardrobe, steel bed frame which were part of the basic amenities as required by the Act.

In Malaysia market, you can find 2 standard sizes of single columns locker which are a) 1830mm x 381mm x 381mm ( or 72 inches x 15 inches x 15 inches), and b) 1830mm x 381mm x 457mm (or 72 inches x 15 inches x 18 inches) The locker is made of 0.6mm thickness mild steel (or Cold Roll Steel) , and it can be equipped with different types of lock, such as cam lock (key lock), pad lock (latch lock), recess handle lock, as well as numbering combination lock. Only 1 compartments and 2 compartments comes with 1 clothes hanger rod and 1 piece of fixed shelf. The advantages of having these type of locker are cost saving, durable and less space is occupied as comparing to other type of storage cabinet.
Multi Columns Locker: 3 compartments/doors locker, 6 compartments/doors locker, 9 compartments/doors locker, 12 compartments/doors locker, 18 compartments/doors locker
In Malaysia market, you can find up to 4 standard sizes of multi columns locker which are a) 1830mm x 915mm x 381mm ( or 72 inches x 36 inches x 15 inches) b) 1830mm x 1145mm x 381mm (or 72 inches x 45 inches x 15 inches) c) 1830mm x 915mm x 457mm ( or 72 inches x 36 inches x 18 inches) d) 1830mm x 1145mm x 457mm (or 72 inches x 45 inches x 18 inches) As per single column compartment locker, its material is the same and can be equipped with different types of lock, such as cam lock (key lock), pad lock (latch lock), recess handle lock, as well as numbering combination lock. Only 1 compartments and 2 compartments comes with 1 clothes hanger rod and 1 piece of fixed shelf. Although these type of steel locker is a bit bulky in size, nevertheless it cost cheaper than having individual single column locker for the same number of compartments.
Steel Metal Wardrobes
There are variable size of wardrobes in this market, from single door to double door wardrobes. Both types of wardrobe equipped with clothes hanger rod, drawer, metal shelves, mirror etc. Normally it is used by those more established organisations such as universities, army camp and factories, as it cost higher comparing to the standard compartments locker above. Its material is the same like compartment locker above.
